Meet Geri Pettis, Sales Engineer

 

Geri Pettis is one of the newest members of the FastServers.Net Sales Team. A true Chicago native, you can often hear Geri discussing her favorite aspects of the city. "Some of the most beautiful aspects of Chicago are the Lakefront and the Skyline. You can only really enjoy the Lakefront and Skyline after all the snow has melted and the temperature rises above 50 degrees!" she said. We often hear our Chicago office employees talking about how beautiful the city is with its skyline and sandy shores. But Chicago is not the only city Geri likes to discuss around the office. She's always talking about how much fun she has when visiting Atlanta, Georgia.

"I miss the weather in Georgia, especially since we are in the midst of the roughest winter here in Chicago that I can remember in a very long time," she said. Yes, we agree this winter has been a rough one. Lots of snow and very cold temperatures make it difficult to move about and continue daily life. Geri also told us how to prepare for the winters in Chicago. "I don't think you can really prepare for Chicago winters. Even if you are a native, you never really adjust. You just learn to cope. And you hope that spring comes early," she said. Springtime is never too early - it certainly beats snow!

So Geri likes to talk about her favorite cities, Chicago and Atlanta. But there is one thing she loves to talk about more than anything else. It's her son Gabe. "My son Gabe has a fiery temper. His father says it is because Gabe was born on the hottest day in 2005!" she said. We did a little research and found that the hottest day in Chicago during 2005 reached 104 degrees! Whew! Anyway, back to Geri and her boy Gabe. She claims he is an active little boy who likes to run (and for you to chase him), and he also likes to kick the soccer ball around. Will he become a professional soccer player one day? Well, Geri's not sure about that, but she did describe a unique feature about Gabe. "He has the cutest dimple in his right cheek and he loves the alphabet song and Ritz Crackers." Hey, Ritz Crackers are quite delicious.

When Geri's not chasing little Gabe around the house, she stays busy, reviewing and processing tickets for new server orders, answering customer questions via the ticket system, and speaking with customers over the phone. Geri said, "A big portion of my job involves data entry and customer service, which are key elements to the position." She says her most challenging duties are those times when she speaks to a customer and they ask a question she is unable to answer. "If I don't know the answer, I do whatever it takes to research and find the answer for the customer. Even if they need an answer on the spot, I bring in an engineer who can assist with the phone call. This allows us to provide the most efficient and responsive answers to questions," she said.

In her free time, Geri enjoys listening to her favorite musical artist, Prince. "My favorite artist of all time is Prince. I have everything he has ever made," she said. Geri also told us she loves "Lady Sings The Blues" by Diana Ross. And if she's not listening to music, you can find her watching her favorite televisions shows Nip Tuck and Girlfriends. Now, if Geri is out on the town, experiencing the city, you can find her at one of the festivals that comes to town every year. "The best things to experience in the city are the numerous festivals such as the Jazz Festival, the Blues Festival, and the Taste of Chicago festival. These are all my favorites," said Geri. We asked Geri to tell us something unique about herself. She responded with, "I am a friendly and customer driven sales person. This may not be a unique quality among the sales team here at FastServers.Net, but I want all of our customers to know and expect that when they speak to me, or any other sales person on the team, they will always receive exceptional customer service," she said. "Although we work hard to make sure our customers' solutions are provisioned and maintained in a timely fashion, we go the extra mile to show how much we really care."
