Meet Greg Kuiper, Server Support Engineer

 

Greg Kuiper is a Server Support Engineer at FastServers.Net. A graduate of Purdue University in Management Information Systems, Greg spends his days making sure customer issues are resolved quickly. "It's my job to make sure that our customers' support requests are handled in a timely manner. Whether responding on the phone or through the ticket system, I do everything I can to ensure that our customers' managed server solutions are functioning properly." Greg said one of his additional daily tasks includes managing the FastServers.Net internal documentation system. "The internal documentation systems provides a central location for resolutions to technical issues each of us face at any point during our shifts. It's a great addition to the framework we have established in the technical support department here at FastServers.Net."

Recently Greg moved from Indiana to Lincoln Park, Chicago to work in the downtown Chicago office. He has been with the company for over nine months and enjoys many of the perks Chicago has to offer. "I am an avid White Sox fan and enjoy catching as many games as I can. It's also fun playing soccer and beach volleyball here during the warmer months." Greg said one of the sports related perks at the Chicago office is playing a game or two of ping-pong with fellow colleagues. "I play against anyone who wants to take on a challenge. Travis and Geoff are probably the best players so they keep it interesting."

Like other FastServers.Net employees, Greg enjoys going to live music venues. "I like going to Alpine Valley and Deer Creek because they are outdoors. I'd much rather be able to move around at a venue than be forced to sit down for the entire show like at traditional concerts." Hey Greg, you should meet up with Geri, Steven, and Jara - they all enjoy going to live music venues as well. When Greg's not visiting local live music venues and festivals, you can find him ripping some techno tunes on his iPod. "My favorite techno music changes on a weekly basis, but I have been listening to a lot of Matt Darey lately."

Greg likes to travel outside of the country when he gets a chance, sometimes traveling as far as Honduras or Belize. "I have been to many places outside of the United States during my life. So far I have been to the Netherlands, Mexico, Honduras, Belize and the Dominican Republic." He said the Netherlands are his favorite because a lot of his family still live there. "When traveling to the Netherlands, I got to meet family that I never met previously. And I was able to see where my grandparents grew up." In the future Greg wants to backpack across Europe for various reasons untold. We tried to get him to tell us a few of these reasons, but he insisted on talking about his annual camping trip to the Indiana Dunes State Park every Memorial Day.
